The change between civilian life and navy life can be very tough, especially in the navy and marines where you are likely to spend a long time overseas. Many people feel homesick, especially during training. It is important to be able to talk about problems if they come up. There is a confidential helpline - you would be given the number if you enlisted. There are also several groups offering help and advice to recruits and their friends and families:
