There would be some help available ranging from basic skills training (English and Maths) to NVQs and in some cases college degrees, although opportunities for these are more limited.

In 2008, under half (45%) of navy ratings and a third (33%) of marines were satisfied with the training and education opportunities available.

Important: You might have to agree to stay longer in the forces if you took a course as part of your work.
