You should expect to live in shared rooms unless you have a family. Nearly half of all single living accommodation in the armed forces is of the lowest grade - personnel frequently complain about it. The government is investing billions of pounds to upgrade accommodation but this will take some years. In 2008, about half of navy/marines recruits said they were satisfied with the standard of their accommodation (a third of navy recruits and just under a half of marines were dissatisfied with it)
