You should expect to live in shared rooms initially unless you have a family. Nearly half of all single living accommodation in the armed forces is of the lowest grade - personnel frequently complain about it. The government is investing billions of pounds to upgrade accommodation but this will take some years. In 2008, 48% of soldiers said they were satisfied with their accommodation, 38% were dissatisfied.
