Which jobs can women apply for? Print E-mail

Most jobs in the armed forces are now open to women, but roles that mainly involve close combat are closed to women, including:

  • Infantry (e.g. foot soldiers)
  • Armoured Corps (e.g. tanks)
  • Household Cavalry (part of the Armoured Corps and also responsible for ceremonial duties)
Although women are not allowed to join jobs that mainly involve close-combat tasks, women in other roles are still expected to take part in warfare if needed, and share the same risks in general as other soldiers.
