In the armed forces, RAF personnel spend the least amount of time away from home [i.e. from the place they normally live while in the RAF], but they are still likely to spend at least some time away during the year.  In 2008, about a third (36%) of airmen/women spent more than three months away from their home on operations or exercises; 8% spent more than six months away.

41% of airmen/women were happy with the amount of time spent away, 20% were dissatisfied and 39% were neutral.
